Program Notes

Between Troezen and Athens, tales relate that travellers had to cross the Isthmus of Corinth, a dense forest prowled by Sinis, a giant of uncontrollable strength. He embodied the wildest aspect of the road, that untamed part that Greek civilization constantly sought to push back.

This piece is a journey into the heart of the forest, to the very heart of the giant himself, where wildness eventually cracks open. But a round trip is never a simple restart. One takes the same road, passes the same trees, and yet everything feels different because one has crossed through something unknown to the path. This is the essence of this palindrome: once the center is reached, the notes return identically yet no longer sound the same. For every journey is a mirror, and the traveler who leaves is never the same as the one who returns.
